Our Recipes for Charity
2 Years ago Nick produced his own recipe book based on over 150 recipes he has cooked during the previous 8 years. Offering it to guests as a e-mail document and asking for donations to our supported charity "A chacun son Everest" - we raised 330€. This charity supports children fighting and recovering from cancer and whilst based in Chamonix helps children throughout France.
In 2010/11, rather than offering the recipe book, as all of the menu was new (as it is every season) we offered specific recipes in return for a donation to the charity "A chacun son Everest".
As a result of our guests' support, kindness and, I guess, appreciation of the food (!) we raised over 220€ - donations coming in small coins or sometimes notes. Thank you to all our guests for their contributions.
Just for interest, the 2 most popular starters were my Fennel soup and also the Beetroot stacks, interleaved with creamy goat cheese. Main courses tended to support my Chicken Zanzibar and the Rhadjastan Red curry - oh and Tartiflette of course. Puddings were definitely for the panne cotta with hot chocolate sauce and the lemon and white chocolate mousse with home-made lemon curd. Also getting lots of requests were Caroline's cakes; in particular her chocolate brownies which are without doubt the most delicious I have ever tasted. :)
