Our Chalet – La Ruche

The chalet was originally built around 1876 starting life as a farmhouse and was converted into a small hotel sometime in the 1930’s (in fact it was the first hotel in Les Carroz). It was then modernised in the early 1980’s to feature 5 family suites.

Since owning the chalet in 2003 we have extensively renovated and decorated it – keeping the traditional Savoyarde feel and tone.

Each suite comprises two rooms: one with bunk beds and/or single bed(s) and one with a large double bed, plus self contained bathroom and toilet. The arrangement of beds can be set to accommodate your needs – each suite will accommodate 2 adults and between 2 and 4 children.  Each suite has its own balcony.

It is superbly positioned close to the town centre but away from traffic and noisy bars.

There is a separate dining room / lounge and a TV room. There is a wide selection of videos (kids and adults), and also loads of toys, games and books. For those children staying in the chalet during the day there is a creche well provided with paints, pens, crayons, paper, play doh and much more to keep them amused, under supervision of course!

For our catered guests bed linen and towels are all provided.

FREE wifi is available throughout the chalet.

In winter, there is a free ski bus which circulates the town making regular trips to the ski lifts. However we find that with young children it’s much easier if we drop you off and pick you up in our minibus – when you have skis and poles not only for yourself but children too, it’s a quite a lot to manhandle onto the bus!

The dining area (shown below left) of our chalet can seat up to 26 people though in practice, as the children eat earlier in the evening to the adults, it is never that crowded!

The comfortable guest lounge is the ideal place to unwind after a busy day – there is an honesty bar and fridge for your cold drinks and beer, plus a small library of books that is continually evolving as guests either leave books or take them away to finish at home.
